Countries Part of Australia’s Visa-Free Entry by eTA program

Here are the countries whose passport holders can use Australia’s Electronic Travel Authority (ETA, subclass 601) for short visits (tourism/business) instead of a traditional visa:

  • Brunei Darussalam

  • Canada

  • Hong Kong (SAR)

  • Japan

  • Malaysia

  • Singapore

  • South Korea (Republic of Korea)

  • United States of America

These are confirmed by Australian government sources (Department of Home Affairs / Australian embassies).

Helpful notes

  • How to apply: ETA applications are made only via the official Australian ETA app (fee: AUD 20 service charge).

  • If your country isn’t listed above: Many European passports (including the UK) instead use the eVisitor (subclass 651) scheme—not the ETA. Check the official eVisitor country list.

  • New Zealand citizens don’t need ETA/eVisitor; they’re granted a Special Category visa (SCV) on arrival (if eligible). Official guidance: “All travellers, except New Zealand citizens, must obtain a visa or travel authority before travelling to Australia.”

If you tell me your passport country, I can point you to the exact (official) page and the right application route.
