Casemiro is a terrific player in midfield, but he also has disciplinary issues. In Man Utd’s game with Crystal Palace on matchday 22 of the Premier League season, he grabbed Will Hughes by the throat with both hands and was sent off.

It all started with a fight after a poor tackle by Schlupp on Antony which sent the Brazilian down the slope on the touchline. The Brazilian reacted furiously and both sets of players got involved.

Numerous players grabbed shirts, but Casemiro grabbed Will Hughes by the throat for just over five seconds. He then took his hands away, but the damage had been done. Even though referee Andre Marriner just gave a yellow to both Antony and Schlupp, the VAR intervened to ask Marriner to look at the Casemiro incident. Marriner needed few looks at the incident to realise what he had missed and Casemiro saw red. It was his first straight red card of his career.
